Hi all,
This is probably a dumb question but I have windows 10 installed on hard drive already and I am looking to install it on an ssd instead. I want to keep other files on my old drive so is it possible to delete only windows 10 from the old drive? Would deleting the windows 10 files/folders be sufficient or would I need to uninstall it? Hopefully this makes sense. Thanks in advance for the help

Yes, you can do that. You will need to reinstall all applications as the new ssd won't see anything installed on old hdd but you can take ownership of the old Windows folder after you have finished installing windows and just delete its contents

When you reinstall win 10, and get to page asking for a licence key, click "I don't have a key" and win 10 will continue the install process and then reactivate itself once installed.

I would remove old hdd when installing on new SSD and once PC boots from it, and win 10 fully installed, put old hdd into case again and then do this - careful not to choose wrong drive: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc753659.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396

Also, make sure old hdd doesn't appear...

Also, make sure old hdd doesn't appear in boot order since all you did was delete windows, it still has its boot partition.
