Corsair TX850M ( 850 w )

As the title says, the PSU just exploded when i tried to boot the system with the 295x2 plugged in.
I made a thread a few weeks before, and according to some guys here, "it should be ok".
Take in count, a few seconds before i decided to try this out, the PSU was working OK.
When i tried to power up the system, BANG, explosion sound+burnt smell coming from the PSU+me panicking hoping nothing else got damaged.

After this, i used a Corsair AX1500i on the same system and everything is working.

I wanted to check if the tx850m would've work because i want to build a system for my brother. Guess im gonna need to get a new 1200w psu.

So yea, just a heads up for everyone considering putting a 295x2 on a psu with less than 1000w.
Just don't.

It technically should be fine if the psu isn't faulty and can keep its amps on the 12V rails over 50A. Which the TX 850 has 70 Amps, if you using an old TX 850W then it probably aged and needed replacing. You don't need a 1000W.
You need at least 50A on the 12V rails or 28A for each 8 pin PCIE cable. - AMD requirements

I had it before it exploded. I bought the ax1500i to use it on a quadfire 295x2 build.
Not sure about the "old psu thing". But yea, just a heads up, if you want to be safe, go for a 1000w psu. I did ask here and everyone said 850w should be ok, even this particular model. So, yea.

A new decent 850W psu with at least 50 amps on the 12V rails would be fine with a R9 295X2 not overclocked. If you used the TX 850 for a previous build, it has aged so it no longer handles 70 amps on the 12V rails that well.

I had it for like 2 years, on pretty low power consumption build.
Non oc 2500k
6970 2gb sapphire.
Idk, maybe corsair sucks.

Btw, would you reccommend this one for a build with a single 295x2?

Its a Thermaltake Smart M 1200 80 plus 1200 w modular.
I dont want to explode any more psus, so id rather go for more W and dont take any risks.

Edit: for the same price (a bit less actually) i could get a rosewill 1200w 80a. Never heard of this brand before. Is it reliable?

I would avoid thermaltake Smart series due to quality issues. Going for more wattage isn't the answer, you want to have at least 50A on the 12V rails and is built decently, ignore wattage for now.

This thread has a list of psu compatibility, it doesn't have every psu but it has a decent database:

Edit: nevermind, just checked the tier list thread, it seems shit.
What about a coolermaster silent Pro gold 1200?
Thanks

That rosewill should be fine with a R9 295X build. Rosewill is more known in the USA and is associated with Newegg.
