Am upgrading my processor, motherboard and memory and have looked through several posts but am still pretty unsure what memory is best suited or even compatible.
Am upgrading processor to new intel core 2 e6300 1066 fsb with motherboard asrock 775 dual-vsta skt via pt880pro agp. Only reason for choosing this board is it supports intel core 2 as well as an agp slot. My graphics card won't be replaced for at least another year. And seeing as i have an old cpu and old type memory i expect quite a boost in performance.
Was wanting 1 gig stick of ddr2 ram and maybe i'd buy another later,
but what type should i buy? 4200 ,5400, 6400?
I have little interest in overclocking any components and don't want to add a pci express graphics for a while yet. Plus would ultimately having just 2 gig ram be enough for recent games after my second upgrade?( when i can afford a second stick) :?

That's like putting a Lexus engine in a Yugo chassis. Avoid Asrock, especially this one.

You don't say what you have now, but don't bet on any big improvement. For gaming, the graphics board is the big difference. Keep your current system until you can afford a new system that will make a difference (i.e. modern PCIexpress graphics card).
A second option is to buy a used AGP card that is better than your current one on eBay.
