Type of cable connector not identified.

I don't recognize a cable connector I own, and don't know anymore for what is was intended.
On the one side the usual usb2.0 pc port connector, on the other side a larger piece of plastic with a green triangle light on top that lits up when attached to the pc.
The connector itself is 15 mm wide and has 7 or 8 pins if i look good.
On all the devices i've got I see no port that fits (not hdmi).
I have a picture but don't know how to get it in here as an url.

Or does anyone know where on the internet I can find pictures of all possible type of connectors or usb cables. What can it be intended for. Charging and/or pc/mac communication. TV ???

I found a picture that pretty much looks like mine, but the plastic in my case is black more bulky, and not for a sony nor a camera.
But you also see the triangle on the connector. I am sure it also lits up when attached. This is the url:

And the connector looks more widy (15 mm) than the usb one on the right.
It's just out of curiosity I want to know. I checked al my devices, even cameras, tvs,... but none has such a port. It's flat simply squared (not like the hdmi) but wider (samsungs connector is of course even more wide).

Perhaps this gives a first idea.

Could be a phone connector, need an exact picture of your cable, but will be really tough to tell unless there is a part # there.

Part number, no way. It will come out sooner or later.
The strange this is can't we even tell which connectors are 15 mm wide.
There can't be hundreds. Connectors adhere to standards no. Why is this one so hard to identify. Mini, micro, dvb, dvt, usb, type a or b I don't know.

Not all cables or devices follow standards. Sony decided to use their own memory stick when everyone else was using compact flash or SD cards. Same thing for charging cables. Try to charge any other device with the new iPhone 5 cord, won't fit.
