Hello, I am building my first ever gaming/workstation PC and have all my components picked out except my storage. I want my PC to run only SSD storage and have a storage capacity of 1.5TB. Which option should I go with?

1. Samsung 960 Pro M.2 1TB + Samsung 850 Evo 500GB SATA

2. Samsung 960 Pro M.2 512GB + Samsung 850 Pro 1TB SATA

3. Samsung 960 Pro M.2 512GB + Samsung 850 Evo 1TB SATA

I am going to be playing a handful of games regularly and trying out new games every so often. The main games being CS:GO, H1Z1, Battlegrounds, Destiny 2 (when it comes out), etc. I know that 1.5TB is the right amount of SSD storage I need since I am not going to be using a hard drive in this system but just am unsure what the right type/form of SSD storage is right for me.

The Pro version of the 850 is not really needed, it's really for those that simply want to max out their computer with cost no object or for running applications and databases in a business where you could have hundred or thousands of users accessing data and want the fastest response times.

You really just need a main drive for the OS and programs and a secondary one for storage or backups. 512 GB should be enough for loading programs on, the rest is up to you and how many other non-program files you will keep and how you want to keep them. In my systems I keep a single SSD for programs, a standard fast hard drive for files and a third standard drive for backups. Actually two drives for backups.

The 960 Pro is very fast for a boot drive, and you dont need anymore than 120gb for a boot drive so I chose the 512 version so you can keep favourite applications such as chrome, discord, skype, steam on there etc

Seeming you only really need 1TB for the main storage especially if you only play games I chose the 850 EVO 1TB as there is no reason to get the PRO over it so it'll save you money.

Honestly theres no reason to justify the cost of a 1TB SSD (300+ pounds) compared to a couple TB HDD which is still less than a SSD. There is no noticable difference between having a game on a HDD and SSD when it comes to boot time. Unless you're inpatient asf and cant wait an extra second. Otherwise there isn't any issues otherwise unless you like to move games about and require high speeds.

Shouldn't I use the M.2 Samsung 960 Pro for my OS and games?

Just use it for OS and personal files such as music, pictures, movies, videos and commonly used applications and certain games. It honestly makes no difference to use a M.2 SSD and normal SSD when it comes to games - Literally no difference what so ever in performance. I've had CSGO installed on my SSD and my other games installed on my HDD and there are no differences when it comes to booting the games up or playing them.
