If they know how it's doing the mapping, I wonder if they can somehow interfere with it. Like, figure out what sonar frequencies it's using and just put some dinghies near it, with underwater speakers that blast those same frequencies towards it.

To the extent they're relying on submersibles, maybe deploy some of your own to interfere with them, like by swimming up to them and blinding their cameras with bright lights.
