Ubisoft's Far Cry 4 Has Gone Gold

I will also not be pre-ordering. I got burned on the crummy, intentionally gimped quality of Watch Dogs. It'll take some time for Ubisoft to re-earn my trust after that. Having developers coming out making clownish statements about cinematic 30 fps and resolution just being a number doesn't help. Ubisoft could learn a lot from quality developers who respect their customer's intelligence such as Chris Roberts or Gabe Newell.

Typical PR nonsense. "Gone gold" only means they've produced a certain number of physical copies of the game. Doesn't mean they've sold anything, nor how many are still playing after a few days. Ubisoft has the same rep EA does, push out as many titles as possible on a franchise till it's run into the ground, and quality be damned!

I think you're confusing terminology with the record industry, where an album going gold, platinum etc. is a measure of the units sold. In the software industry, going gold just means that the final release version has been completed. It's synonymous with RTM, release to manufacturing.

"In addition to the standard edition for the PC, Ubisoft will also sell a Gold Edition version for $89.99 that combines the full game plus the season pass. Gamers will receive an exclusive day-one mission as well as unlock all upcoming Far Cry 4 add-on content, including additional missions, five new weapons and a Player Vs. Player (PVP) mode."

You are saying that we can not even multiplayer for the standard (and already pricey) normal version of the game.

This money-grabbing is starting to REALLY put me off.

Because FC3 was awesome doesn't mean the next will be good too. Always wait for the review. Those bonuses are worth nothing, and maps and figures are just videogamer's fetish

Well 3 out of 3 FarCry titles being good is a pretty good track record. :)

But you are right, it COULD be bad.

FC3 was mediocre at best.

Worst voice overs/sound effects I've ever heard (wtf did you record your audio at 8kHz), AI that was laughably inept, enemies were generic as they come as were NPC's that were completely lifeless, crafting was dumbed down to the lowest common denominator and the final boss fight was one of the worst I've ever seen. Seriously... quick time events?

Don't even get me started on multiplayer. Load outs never saved, experience on a various different weapons never saved after missions (looking at you AK-47), p2p based networking which would kick you out randomly resulting in no XP, the rampant speed/aim hacking that occured, co-op missions that would completely bug out and force users to quit losing XP or how about getting those unlocks that for whatever reason changed from 12 hours to a year and half (546 days). Never got that one figured out.

FC3 was a mess. Singleplayer was lifeless and they completely f***ed up the multiplayer.

The only one Ubisoft ever got right was the first Far Cry. And now they want some extra money just to unlock the multiplayer portions of the game. Go f*** yourself Ubisoft.

/end rant

I just ordered my 3rd 30 Inch Monitor. The multi monitor experience for this game will be excellent..And yes, I have the Horse Power to drive it all...
