Ubuntu 14.04 not booting on 2008 MBP

I'm using USB Installer to burn it onto a thumb drive. Whenever i restart and select Ubuntu it black screens except for 2 small vertical lines in the top right corner and stays that way. Any ideas or known fixes?

Change your hardware 😉 This biten fruit is not like everything else, probably you need something special made for it.
