ubuntu 14.04 weird purple tint on parts of the screen

Looked around and could not find a reason or solution to this problem that only just recently started.
It seems to only be on the top right of my screen and whenever i drag a window in that area it looks like the color is off and becomes mostly purple. I would take screenshots but it only shows through my display.

Sounds like some hardware issue. Try with a livecd/liveusb PD some other distribution and see if problem persists..

I've determined it to be a hardware issue. Do you know if any links that may help?

Most likely there is some loose cable between the monitor and the screen. Maybe difficult to repair your self if you are not comfortable taking apart a laptop
