Ubuntu 16.04 on VMWare

My Ubuntu 16.04 images are broken on VMWare! i really need to use them! when i launch i either get the login loop or i auto login and have no terminal and no sidebar or topbar. I tried launching Debian 7 and that worked just fine! Greatly appreciate the help

Repairing boot / login problems in virtual machines is no different than repairing them in the real world - you boot another OS, and try to repair the original one.

Once you have Debian working - add Ubuntu' virtual HDD as second drive in Debian VM, boot Debian, and start googling how to repair Ubuntu installation which cannot boot. Once you make changes to Ubuntu image - shutdown Debian, and see what you did.
