Ubuntu and the Grub

i have an hp running ubuntu 16.04.2 and I can't see the screen to get into cmos. What must I change in the grub to allow me to see the start screen / cmos?

Grub has nothing to do with the bios. Completely separate. The bios loads before grub.

Might you be referring to the BIOS? If you are, that has absolutely nothing at all to do with GRUB, that is hardware dependent.
