Ubuntu Installation Something else help

So I am trying to dual boot Ubuntu on my MAC, and I have everything done and am at the installation stage.

When installing I have come to the options for installation type.

The options are:
"erase disk and install Ubuntu"
"Encrypt the new Ubuntu installation for security"
"Use LVM with the new Ubuntu installation"
and "something else"

Since I am dual booting I assume I want to do it from "something else" since I would like to just have a partition for Ubuntu while leaving room for my Mac to boot the Apple OS.

What should I do from here? Done a bit of googling, and I only run across people who used ReFit and I did not. I just made a second partition and booted ubuntu from there.

I suggest reading through the macbook section on the ArchWiki and see if you can make sense of the steps involved. Installing Ubuntu will have the same preparation that ArchLinux does, but Ubuntu has a nice gui to help you install

Have you already installed Windows and defragmented the HDD? If there is an existing WIndows OS that is properly set up, there should be an option to "install Ubuntu alongside Windows".
