When i use Ubuntu in virtualbox, my live cd is able to boot fine. When I try to use my live cd on its own, my system seems to always crash. I use all the boot parameters and yet it still seems to fail. Any suggestions?

What do you mean 'crash'? is there any messages?
Post your hardware configuration.
Also please make sure the md5sum matches the one listed on ubuntu website.
Also check that the cd integrity is fine after burning (ie the md5sums still matches)

You can't just say 'it doesn't work' and expect anyone to magically know what the issue is!

Sorry! I'm new to Linux and I'm not sure what a md5sum is. I'd love to learn more though?

EDIT: I decided to look everything up. Here's my old laptop.

Software:

Hardware:

I checked the md5sum of the torrent file i used. It's fine. I'm not sure how to check the CD, however, i used a mac to burn it and I'd doubt that'd be the problem.

P.S. How do i check for error messages?

When you say 'I use all the boot parameters and yet it still seems to fail.' - what do you mean by 'boot parameters' . All you should need to do is to insert the disk and boot from it.
