UDIMM vs DIMM question

Hey, I was looking to upgrade my RAM, and I was doing a lot of reading and such, and I eventually found Crucial's system scanner to give me more of a definite answer on what I can upgrade to. It told me that a 8GB Kit (4GBx2), 240-pin DIMM, DDR3 PC3-12800 was compatible, but I was looking to get it for a little cheaper, so I went to amazon. I copied it word for word and ended up with this search result: Crucial 8GB Kit (4GBx2) DDR3 1600 MT/s (PC3-12800) CL11 Unbuffered UDIMM 240-Pin Desktop Memory Modules. Both descriptions look pretty identical, minus that UDIMM part. Is it really the same thing? I read that UDIMMs are usually for workstations, and I have a N-Alvorix-RS880-uATX (Alvorix) motherboard. Any assistance would be much appreciated.

It's not good RAM it has higher CAS Latency than unbuffered RAM
You can get regular 2x4GB RAM with CL9 1600MHz (PC3-12800)

I beleive UDIMM simply means Unregistered, which is standard for 99% of RAM (including what you already have).

However, I suggest getting something with a CAS latency of 9 or lower.

What's the board/CPU?

I'm guessing the "CL11" part is the latency you guys are talking about? Ok, so I'm looking for something a little lower. I have a N-Alvorix-RS880-uATX motherboard, and a AMD Athlon II X4 640 processor. Will something like this work? http://www.amazon.com/Kingston-Modules-1600MHz-Non-ECC-Desktop/dp/B0057Q4ADU/

That link's not loading for me (EDIT: Referring to the HP one), but it's an AM3 board, with up to DDR3-1333 support. There's no point in getting DDR3-1600.

I'm sorry, last question. I already have the stock 4 gigs of RAM installed, so I can add these 2 sticks in addition to those and there won't be any problems? I don't want to get my hopes up yet of having 12 gigs of RAM 😀

You can, but it might break dual channel support - won't be as fast.

It's generally better not to mix RAM.
