Lucol is right about that. If you are shopping for a hard drive, maybe consider buying one that spins faster (7200 rpm) and has a larger buffer and low access time. All drives aren't created equal.
You could buy an ATA100 drive now, thinking that you'll be using it in the future, but by then there will be another faster ATA speed available that WON'T BE MUCH FASTER EITHER. lol..

It's not much more expensive to buy a ATA100 drive - not to mention that ATA66 drives are not always as readily available. I recommend that you go with an ATA100 drive, whether or not you're going to be using ATA100 at the moment.
