So, everything WAS working. but I couldn't see the splash screen to enter bios on the motherboard. I saw on a YT video that you could remove the cmos battery and let it sit for a bit.

I did, and put it back in. PC turns on, memory lights up (G.skill led memory), fan turns on. light turns 'white' or whatever bright color it is (color blind) and above it the red light comes on and no picture or boot.

I tried removing the memory, trying different configs there. nothing. I tried removing the graphics card. nothing. I took out the ssd and put it in a new spot, nothing. I tried a brand new cmos battery in case I somehow shorted it out removing it. nothing.
any other tricks I can try? don't want to spend another set of funds for a ANOTHER new board. sigh. next time i'm just leaving well enough alone.

ASUS TUF Gaming Z590-Plus WiFi 6, LGA 1200 (Intel 11th/10th Gen) ATX Gaming Motherboard (PCIe 4.0, 3 x M.2/NVMe SSD, 14+2 Power Stages, USB 3.2 Gen 1 Front Panel Type-C, 2.5Gb LAN, Thunderbolt 4 Support, Aura RGB Lighting)

Intel Corei9 CPU
128 GB G.skill ram.

all was working till Itried to remove the cmos battery and put it back in. After about a minute wait, and with all power off of course.

yep, I tried that..and still nothing :/

Short story, went to microcenter today, thank god they still exist. got a replacement asus board. I can now see the Splash screen again. Ad I had to go back to my old WD 1TB SSD drive. For whatever reason, Asus doesn't seem to like ANY 2TB SSD drives on my setup :/....

Also, not sure why, but I lost the splash screen when I set the bios on the otherboard to optimized defaults. might not want to do that in the future. expensive december in tech parts. hopefully the end of it for a while. but at least everything is wokring again. now to seal this sucker up and hopefully not have to touch it again for a LONG time. i'm tired :)
