Hi All,
It seems my 4 year old mobo has failed (3 short beeps) and Im looking for some advice on replacement CPU + Mobo (and RAM if I have to).
The original systems was:
GIGABYTE GA-B75M-D3H Intel B75 (Socket 1155) Micro-ATX Motherboard
Intel Xeon E3-1230 V2 3.30GHz
1 pair of DDR3 PC3-14900 • 10-10-10-30 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR3-1866 • 1.5V • 512Meg x 64
1 pair of G.Skill 8GB (2x 4GB) Dual Channel Ares Series Memory Kit (DDR3 1600, 9-9-9-24, 1.5v, Intel XMP Extreme Memory Profile Ready)
Scythe Mugen 3 High Performance Quiet CPU Cooler
Power supply has been upgraded to 650W
I need 6 SATA ports on the motherboard.
And I have a GeFore 1060 to plug in as well.
If anyone can offer advice on whether its wise to replace only the motherboard or a complete mobo/cpu/ram swap out.
I would like to keep noise emissions reasonable as I work at the desk this sits under.
Budget: Reasonable budget - Im guessing the 1060 gives a good indicator on the level Im trying to meet.
System is used for Gaming/NAS/Backup target.
[For those who are interested I have tried booting the system with no ram and one of each stick individually in the different slots, each time I get a black screen and three short beeps. Resetting the CMOS didnt help either. Therefore I am assuming that the RAM circuits on the mobo are toast].
Any advice offered is gratefully received.
