Hi,

I am due to visit NYC in December. Typically in the UK we pay more for most electrical/computing items.

Does anyone have any recommendations of what's really cheaper and worth buying from the NY highstreet and where from?

Many thanks indeed
Ian

Before you buy anything in NY, I would check the inport/export laws of the UK and USA. I don't know if any problems off the top of my head but you may find that it will cost you more to take it home that way then to buy at home. It's also a slim chance but possible that you will not be able to take it out of the country without some kind of documentation that needs to be filled out ahead of time. USA Customs can be jerks about computer equipment sometimes. I have no idea how UK Customs will be getting it back in.

I suggest you go to newegg.com and check prices of anything you're thinking about buying and then compare them to the prices for the same items where you usually shop. It's likely the newegg prices will be lower than most brick and mortar stores. I don't know but you might be able to order from newegg and have them deliver to where ever you're staying in the States. I agree, check the import/export stuff. At the rate this country is going, you may not be able to take a AA battery out of the country because it's tech stuff that could be used for a nefarious purpose. If you're thinking about audio equiment, you can get prices at ciruitcity.com or bestbuy.com. If your looking at high end audio stuff, I can't help you.
