So I currently have a GT 740 in my computer which I plan to upgrade when I will get new games and to use in another PC. So what is the best budget graphics card (sub 150$) in your opinion? I would take the RX 460 or the GTX 1050, because these are now the budget graphic cards. Since the GTX 1050 is better than the RX 460 in almost everything (except for the AMD-optimized games), is it worth buying a 4GB RX 460? I want to have a future-proof build since this PC isn't even one year old so it has to be worth it. My GT 740 has 2 gigs of VRAM too so the VRAM amount wouldn't change if I bought the GTX.
I plan buying Forza Horizon 3, maybe GTA V and FIFA 17.
So current specs are:
AMD FX-6300
GIGABYTE GA-970A-DS3P
2x8GB CRUCIAL BALLISTIX SPORT
GIGABYTE GT 740 2GB OC
FSP RAIDER 550 (has 6/8-pin connector)

Don't dare to say the FX-6300 was a bad choice, when I built the PC I was still a noob in hardware ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Solution
Buying a lower end gaming card will not "future proof" your system, and the FX-6300 is already under that anyway. Extra RAM is not worth getting a slower card if you will be running on 1080 or under resolution, and even at higher resolutions the cards would have to be very close in speeds to pick one with more RAM. If you don't care about the slightly higher price, the 1050 Ti is a good buy.

I agree with you. But, isn't it better to buy the RX 470 then if I have enough money to buy the 1050Ti? BTW, I've currently found a comparison of sub-200$ cards. This shows that the GTX 1050 has the best cost per frame, followed by the RX 470. So if I understand it right, it isn't worth buying a 2GB VRAM card for the "future-proofness"? So I think I'll choose the GTX 1050Ti. Just for the custom designs, do you think MSI is a good choice?

You said under $150, the RX 470 is $180-200 for most models. 1050 Ti is $140-150. MSI is a good brand to get.

For under $150 this is the best option new. It would be a good match for your FX-6300. Anything stronger is going to be bottlenecked by it. Its the most future proof of the budget cards as well. Its $30 more than a GTX 1050, $30 less than the cheapest RX 470 I could find and still has 4GB of VRAM which will absolutely be of benefit even at 1080p.
