I've seen a whole bunch of these 'Will the Xigmatek 1283 heatsink fit my case?' threads..

The Xigmatek 1283 is about 159 mm according to Newegg.

The Antec 900 is 8.1" = 205 mm wide (exterior dim given on Newegg). Apparently it fits 900 cases.. but how much clearance is there?

The Cooler Master Centurion 5 is 203 mm.. and apparently it fits as well ... but how much clearance is there?

I think it would be very useful if people could respond with the case they have and if it fits the Xigmatek and how comfortably it fits it.. you can also include the size of your case in mm though one can look it up easily. This might give an estimate of the chances the S1283 fits a given case not listed here..

Thanks!! (Personally, I'm thinking of the Cooler Master Centurion 531 (a case from 3 years ago).)

Xigmatek S-1238 + Antec 900 = works

The heatpipes stick out of the case by just a hair but the inner wall of the door sits just a bit higher and clears them.

A closed case (pun intended)

Hard to tell distance with a clear window but probably ~1/4 inch clearance

New pic of the RAM clearance. I am set up with a GA-EX38-DQ6 and two modules of Crucial that I normally put in 2+4 slots. If you are getting 4 modules, you might have clearance issues if you have large heatsinks on the RAM and position the HS as shown.
As a side note, the xigmatek does fit if turned 90 deg to where the fan would be pointing towards the front/back of the case.

Fits in my Antec Sonata III fine with about 15-20mm to spare. My case is 8.1" wide
Other critical info, NB and Memory cooler clearance
Xigmatek HDT-S1283 is 35mm
OCZ Vendetta 2 is 41mm

Depending on your motherboard and ram you may have to alter the mounting position of the cooler or lose 2 of your memory slots (heatspreaders, etc)

Yeah it would be helpful to collect some more info on this thread. I would hate to get a HS that didn't fit the case I had.

Oh yeah, it clears my RAM too but I did put them in slots 2 + 4 just to give them some more room in there. I have 2 modules in...I can switch them over to 1 + 3 when I get home and post another pic to show the RAM clearance. I am sure Xigmatek adjusted the height of the fins so that they would clear the RAM if you set the HS sideways like that...but then again you never know...they did include silicon based thermal grease...

Its safe to assume that this cooler will not fit with 4 sticks of OCZ Reapers? Im going to find out the hard way, because I just ordered the S1283 and the retention bracket kit from Newegg, to replace this piece of garbage ASUS V-60 with a dead fan.

**EDIT** Actually after glancing over some reviews on newegg this apparently dosent bother OCZ Reapers.

See my new bottom pic. If you have the Xigmatek facing like I do, it will not make it over a Reaper in slot 1 on the gigabyte board.

The Reapers are a good 1-inch taller than standard RAM, so it the RAM slots are in the same spot on this ASUS P5Q that they are on your board, im gonna have to put the cooler the other way, blowing out the back, which isnt a problem anyways.

Hmm, I have terrible news but I think you can get around it. The side door doesn't shut with the HS facing the back of the case if you put the door fan in (which you probably want in). The corner of the fan frame overlaps with the top of the HS just about up to the screw hole.

You could for sure cut that corner of the fan frame off and it looks like it would just eek in there.

I have a Raidmax Smilidon, and that side fan will definetly screw me. But im gonna remove it, I wont need it with the powerful fan on the Xigma and the 95CFM Scythe I have in the rear. Ill have one helluva wind tunnel.

:D

Well I put a Thermaltake iCage in my case, has a 120mm fan on it with the 3 harddrive bays. I have a fan there obviously for intake, and 1 HD, it blows straight towards my RAM/CPU. If I put the Xigmatek sideways as in the fan blowing out the back, ill have the front intake, Xigma fan, and the 95CFM scythe in the back and all in a line :D Probably a little more detail than needed, but anyways..

No way, I like to hear how people mod their cases. How do you like the iCage? Is it pretty effective then? If I had room I would probably throw one in mine. 3 drive bay fans would be pretty fun :ouch:

The instilation was a pain in the ass, and the mounting for the harddrives is poor. But I didnt get it for the HD bays I got it for the fan really, the only reason I even have a drive up there is so I could remove my bottom cage to fit my Crossfired 4850's.

I'm installing the Xigmatek S1283 into my P182 tonight on a Asus P5Q Deluxe. We'll see how it goes. I really hope it fits. I've seen reports of it fitting just as it does with the 900.
