Hello everyone.
I'm buying new monitor next month and I would like a opinion about those two guys, since I couldn't find a direct comparison between them

I'm going for a Ultra Wide monitor, and the only thing I will be doing, is gaming, single-player gaming.

I can't decide between those two:

LG Electronics UM95 34UM95 34-Inch $819,29

Specs:

Dell UltraSharp U3415W $899,99

Specs

Considerations:

  • ■ I like deep blacks and very saturated colors.
    ■ I want to spend less than $1000.
    ■ Tilting adjustments differences are not so important to me.
    ■ I won't be able to wait more for a monitor that has not been released, unless it's released in beginning of august.
    ■ I've heard that both this monitors suffers from significant back-light bleed.
    ■ The Dell one, has a better audio from what I've heard. Not that the audio is important, but I'll use it sometimes.

There is a good review of both of them, but I still can't decide:

Dell U3415W: http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/lg_34um95.htm

What do you guys think?

I have this monitor. Going 34" ultrawide is one of the best computer upgrades I have had in years, and on so many levels. As for your question about the response time, "fast mode" is a option you can set in the settings, which I have.

Check out Tom's review of the Dell, which pins it up against many other 34" ultrawide monitors. It beats LG's 34UM95 in several tests, including input lag, which probably applies to your gaming.

At the time I also considered the LG. No stores carried any of those monitors locally for me, so I was left to bet on people's reviews and my experience with Dell. I have always used Dell monitors at work and at...

I now posted the specs in the first post.
What makes me afraid is that in the Dell's display, it has 8 ms response time in "Normal Mode" and 5 ms in "Fast Mode".
I'm not sure I should consider it a 8ms or a 5 ms monitor. But the LG is 5ms for sure.

Of course for gaming, even 5 ms is not "good". But 8 ms is a little too much, am I right?

Still, I had very good experience with dell monitors, and some bad experiences with LG monitors, but this might not be the case. The LG 34UM95 is very highly recommended in a lot of places, and I did not see the same hype about the Dell monitor.

I have always used Dell monitors at work and at home. They've proven great quality and reliability. For those reasons, I didn't wanna gamble on LG. The bet turned out great for me. It's been great for digital art work, photography, movies, and the games I play.

Also using a Dell U3415W. Fantastic monitor :) This is coming from a U2711, also great. I don't see bleed on mine, but being an IPS screen, you'll see the "white glow" effect on dark backgrounds/games such as Alien Isolation. I don't use the audio so I can't comment there.
