I want to play witcher 3 on max settings at at least 60 fps. i am playing on a 1920 x 1080p projector.

What kind of build would you recommend. i am not asking for the bear minimum to get at 60fps. i want it to run solid.

Hope you guys can help me make up a good build.

This is a cost saving system that will run The Witcher 3 solidly at 1080p. So things like i5-4690k's, Z97's motherboards and better cases and SSD's can be added that will typically raise total costs by 20% or even higher but this is one that will already run it easily.

That's on your end. I ran Witcher 3 at quite demanding settings with no problems at 1080p@60fps constant with the R9 290, CPU i5-4690 and 8GB RAM.

There is an instability in your system causing poor performance.

I was getting about 55fps with hairworks off and everything Ultra with my 980 Hof. I now have 2 980Hof and get about 95-105 FPS. But just 1 of those cards costs almost as much as the whole build above.

The 980Ti is about 30% better that a 980. You will probably be able to get 60FPS average on a GTX 980Ti but unless you plan to drop a couple grand on just GPUs alone you wont be able to get a smooth 60FPS easily.

Maybe with net years GPUs....

Corsair 750 watt
Asus p8z77-m
Intel core I7 3770 3.4 GHz LGA1155
GTX 970
PATRIOT PV38G160LC9KG 8GB 1600 MHz C9 1.35V V3 (2 of those so 16GB ram)
Seagate 1TB SATA 6 Gbps 64MB buffer
samsung evo 850 500 gb

I think i also have some overheating issues. the game somethimes crashes and the back of the 970 is kinda hot then. (i have 2 basic fans and 1 big fan at the top back)

I find some of those benchmarks kind of strange.

I have a XB270HU which is 1440p and i was getting 55fps on average. I dont see why they should get 56fps on 1080p then. Which version of the game was this benchmark taken on?? Cause they have improved the performance a bit.

Yeah i dont think the 970 can run the game at 60fps on ultra. I think people are exaggerating if they say that. I couldnt get that out of my 980 Hall of Fame.

Btw turning hairworks off and chosing SSAO improves FPS quiet a bit atleast it did for me.

You don't need a TI at 1080p... period... stop make him waste money.

By the way, Hairwork make AMD cripple, however when deactivated, the 290x perfom to the same level as the 980 GTX and well above 60FPS.

Thanks Nvidia for screwing the PC communittee.

Monitor Resolution: 1920 x 1080p. (its an lg pf1500 projector)

Additional Comments: I want to turn all settings on witcher 3 to the max and run the game at 60+ fps at all time.

1080p is not hard to max at all. The 970 is about 3 time stronger than a PS4 and XBone GPU.

A single 290x is running it at max without Hairwork. By the way, hairwork is not even a visual upgrade. I really don't understand what CDPR thought by implementing it when they knew the game was going to be running on AMD GPU for 80% of the fanbase. (Computer, PS4, Xbone)

Your system is really good, instead of wasting money on new parts how about fixing the overheating issues by dusting out the system/possibly putting in better or more fans and then retrying Witcher 3.

the 290x definitely does not get 60fps even with hairworks off. Every single benchmark i have seen has hairworks turned off and not one of them come close to 60fps for witcher 3.

The system is clean. only thing that could be causing the problem then is the overheating. i was thinking about going to watercooling but i dont know shit about that. me and a friend are quite technical, so you think we can figure out how to build that?
