So i've been in the market for a new monitor. I joined the ultrawide club last year with an LG 29" freesync ultrawide in 1080p and I absolutely love 21:9 for the FPS games I play. So i've been wanting an upgrade with higher refresh rate, 100+. I had narrowed down my choices down to two monitors.

LG 34UC79/89
2560x1080
34" 3800r curve
the 79 model is freesync at 144hz and $450-$600
the 89 model is g-sync at 144hz with OC up to 166hz and is $600-$800
vs
Alienware AW3418DW
3440x1440
34" 1900r curve
100hz native with 120hz OC and is anywhere from $849-$1,500 depending on time of sale.

Now however I just discovered this new alienware monitor, which is closer in specs to the LG:

Alienware AW3418HW
2560x1080
3800r curve
144hz up to 160hz OC
This monitor appears to be $850ish.

Now, I know that the 1440p Alienware monitor uses an LG panel, and i'm fairly certiain the 1080p will have an LG panel as well. While the 1440p Alienware boasts obvious resolution and ms reponse time beneifts over the LG based on testing done by tftcentral i'm wondering if the alienware 1080 panel will just be a rebranded LG 34UC89. If it is just a rebranded monitor, I see no reason to spend an extra $100 on the alienware. What I would love to know is if like it's 1440p counterpart, the alienware 1080p even while using an LG display, might outperform the LG monitor it competes with in regards to response time etc.

Anyone in the know?
Thanks!
