UMAX Astra 6450 FireWire/IEEE-1394 Port
well..i was wondering about this firewire scanner...its out there for quiet a good price (under 250$), a FireWire/IEEE-1394 PCI Card is supplied with it. It also has a transparency adapter included.
Has anyone tried it out...or does anyone have any suggestions...i plan to buy it...so any input would be great.

Did you buy this yet? I did a lot of research on this scanner and people either love it or hate it. Nothing in between. It seems to work or not. Some people had rebate coupons that umax refused to honor. No way of knowing why it's just what I was told. Let me know how your's turns out if you buy it, because it is real high on my short list for a scanner. It seems to be a lot of scanner for the money I just can't make up my mind.

As far as I know yet, UMAX is not a very reliable company. The products are very cheap for the money.I love it because it's cheap but I hate it for its lack of customer support.
