Successfully installed UMAX S6-E scanner on Windows 2000 Server using
the orginal ISA SCSI controller card.

First download and unzip, to their own directory, the following
drivers:
USD-IS11 ISA SCSI Controller (Win2k, XP)driver from
http://www.umax.de/download/ScanPC/dtc3x8x-win2k.zip

UMAX S6-E Windows 2000 driver from
http://members.driverguide.com/driver/detail.php?driverid=173740

ASPI 4.71a2 drivers from
http://download.adaptec.com/software_pc/aspi/aspi_471a2.exe,

Next installed USD-IS11 SCSI controller card into an empty ISA slot.
Boot system. Win2K will not detect the SCSI controller. It must be
manually configured throught the Hardware Wizard.
Run the Hardware Wizard, selecting "Add/Troubleshoot a device". Once
the wizard completes it auto detection select "Add a new device", then
select the second option, "No, I want to select the hardware from a
list". Next scroll down the list and select "SCSI and RAID contollers"
and then click on the "Have Disk" button. Browse to the USD-IS11
directory you created earlier and select the DTC3X8X inf file. You
will be prompted to define the system resources. Configure the
resource address for 340-35F (defalt card address)and finish the
installation. You will need to reboot the system.

Once the SCSI interface is installed, Windows may detect the UMAX
scanner. If not simply run the Hardware Wizard again. When prompted
for the driver, select the "Have Disk" button and browse to the UMAX
directory you created earlier and select the inf file.

If your going to use VueScan it should work without any problems. I
also installed the ASPI drivers to ensure compatiblity with other
software. VueScan is a self contain program for scanners and imaging
devices. There is no need to install MagicScan or VistaScan to operate
the scanner.

I hope this helps.
