[SOLVED] Un-install Office 365

Hi. I got my first laptop 2 days ago. This is Windows 10. My old PC was Windows 7. I paid for and downloaded Office 2019. The problem was it would not work on Windows 7.

When I switched on the laptop it asked me for my Microsoft account. What happened was I signed up to Office 365. I am on a 30 day trial which ends on 20th Apr. Then I will have to pay for it.

I don’t want it. I want to download Office 2019 again. I tried to uninstall it but there is nothing to un-install. I downloaded Office 2019 but it insists on using Office 365.

How do I get around this? Any help?

I am not at all sure that office 2019 even supports Windows 7

nope. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...-mac-faq-a8fed43d-4c11-404a-acc3-09eb46a3a7fb

Office 2019 is not supported on Windows 7 or Windows 8. For Microsoft 365 installed on Windows 7 or Windows 8: Windows 7 with Extended Security Updates (ESU) is supported through January 2023.

Windows 7 has been retired for a long time there’s no security updates and it’s really not worth using anymore

So it’s not at all supported on Windows 7 you will have to use a newer operating system or by an older version of office which I don’t think it’s available anymore

You haven't read what I said.
" I am not at all sure that office 2019 even supports Windows 7"

I don't want to install Office 2019 on windows 7. I already said that. I want to install it on my laptop with windows 10. I can download and install (my paid for) Office 2019. Office 365 does not seem to have any installation in Control Panel -> P:rograms and features. I can not run Word 2019 as it come up with Word 365. I believe you have to un-install one before installing the other. I want it to come up with Word 2019. I have un-subscribed to Office 365 but it might still be on the 30 day trial period and it is this that is getting in the way.

Settings - Apps - Default Apps
Choose default apps by file type.

Can you change the association of ".docx" to Word2019?

I will try the link. Thanks.
I do know that Microsoft can help. I have had an occasion where an engineer took over my computer remotly to fix something before but can't remeber how to get their.

I have used your link and done both unistall methods. I tried to open a word document but could not.
re booted then downloaded Office 2019.
I rebooted again but I am still getting Office 365 splash screen.

According to Microsoft windows 10 forum, Office 2019 is office 365.
No it is not.

I have Office 2019 installed in both my Win 10 and Win 11 system.
It is NOT the same as Office 365, especially regarding a monthly subscription.

Her is O2019

As I said earlier, I cancelled the 365 subscription on my new laptop as soon as Microsoft had me subscribed to it. I have made several attempts to download 2019. The splash screen still says 365. I was told not to worry because 2019 is 365. I know that is wrong as other people I know see the 2019 splash screen. USAFRet agrees with me. Now I am getting a yellow banner telling me that I must pay up by 21st April or loose it. Is Microsoft banning me from using 2019?

Does Microsoft have a contact number for situations like this?

Or an online chat where they could look at a problem by taking over your PC.

Yes. Thanks for your posts. It looked like the cloud version Office 365 could not be un-installed and left it's registry in place and it was this that got in the way. I am surprised that Microsoft did not work this problem out. 2019 is end of support in October 2025. Is this just the support side and can it still be downloaded if there is a PC problem after that date?

P.S. how do I close this thread.

Can it still be downloaded after 2025? Probably.
You can still d/l O 2013, for instance.

But I'd keep a local copy around just in case.
I do.
