[SOLVED] unable to access apple ID in state of quantum limbo

My apple ID is in quantum limbo. By this I mean it is both in the state of being registered, while it is also unable to retrieve the password.
This came about because I got halfway through creating an apple ID with my email on my iphone, however I did not provide my credit card information. As a result when I try to create a new apple ID with my email, it fails, when I try to recover it, it claims it does not exist. Does anyone know how to fix this?
