Hello everyone, first post here. Here's my issue:

My 1 year old nephew played with the power button of his father's PC. The result is that the system BSOD while booting. This has happened a few times, and i always go to his house, with a hiren's boot cd in a flash drive, do some CHKDSK , and it fixes everything.
Not this time.
I cannot go to safe mode or anything. I cannot boot via windows CD. I cannot boot the hiren's boot cd. Basically the computer hangs as long as the hard drive is connected.
So i unplugged the drive and plugged it in my computer. It will hang my system too, however if i hot plug it in, while windows already loads , i can finally get it recognized , but with no partitions.
So i did the trick with the fridge, let it cool for two nights, hot plugged it again on my computer, finally got access to one of the two partitions and saved some pictures.
Unfortunately most of his stuff is on his C: partition which i cannot access no matter what i do. Every recovery software on Hiren's and elsewhere , doesn't even run, as long as the faulty drive is connected.
I'm going through all this trouble because he has pictures of his kids , not backed up! Otherwise i would recycle the drive and be done with it.
BTW the drive is a 1TB WD Not sure if it's green, i'm at the office atm.

So any tips or ideas would be very helpful!
I have a lot of experience with computers, so fire at will :)

Solution
At this point i would seriously start considering sending in the harddrive to data recovery guys if information is truly valuable. Did you try accessing harddrive with one of those usb connection enclosures ?(i assume you connected the hdd trough sata on your other computer) might not hang since it would connect the hdd trough usb as external hdd and have nothing to do with the motherboards sata

Solution
Unfortunately my external hard disk box is an old IDE. Got to search through the boxes to see if it had a sata adapter when i bought it.

Any other suggestions, in case this fails ?

Sorry apart from sending it in to data recovery i am not sure what else you can try.

Got some progress to report. I found some adapters and connected the drive via USB. Got some SMART to report:

Now attempting to recover data via recuva. Any software recommendations?!
