I am able to access my Netgear ReadyNAS 526X via the web. However, I cannot access it via my PC when connected with an ethernet cable.

I can see the NAS in my network within Windows 11, but when I attempt to login, I receive a message that I do not have permission. I am unsure if this is a setting on the NAS or if I need to do something within Windows. I have looked through various settings but am at a loss. Finally, I have Bitdefender and wonder if there is something I need to do there.

Any thoughts are appreciated. Thank you.

Regarding:

"I am able to access my Netgear ReadyNAS 526X via the web."

So you can see all directories, folders, and files and actually open the files remotely - correct?

Without any need to enter login information (user name/password) when accessing via the web - correct?

"when connected with an ethernet cable".

What is the specific connection path being used?

Thank you for the replies. I will try to answer your questions.

Yes, I can access/open everything online. I do need to enter the username/password when going to the IP address.

Currently the NAS is connected to an ASUS router via LAN 0. The NAS is connected to my laptop via LAN 1.

I only connected my laptop to the NAS in an attempt to transfer the first big batch of files, figuring it would be faster than over the internet. I ended up putting the files on a big USB drive, connecting that to the NAS, and transferring the files.

Going forward it is my hope to simply have the NAS connected to the router via ethernet. I would like to be able to connect to the NAS through my network as opposed to via the web.

Also, I did try to create a backup job but could only get it to work with the USB plugged in. I have had the NAS for many years and was able to have scheduled backups going before, but I honestly forget how I set it up way back then.

Thanks
