[SOLVED] Unable to Activate

I just updated my CPU & MOBO, and blindly thought the hardware change option under Activation would work. Contacted Microsoft & was told if I didn't have my key or proof of purchase from 5+ years ago, I was basically screwed. Is there any issues I may face not having the updates?

If it is Windows 10 you should still get all of the updates. There is effectively no downfall to not activating W10 outside of the watermark and less customisation.

Where did the Win 10 license come from originally?

Was this license ever linked to a MS account?

I'm not even sure. I think maybe Newegg. I had digitally linked it to my account before swapping, but was told that feature does not work with a motherboard swap.



I've used regedit to disable the watermark for now. So I'm not yet having too many issues with it.
