Hello everyone,

I've been working on booting Kali Linux from a USB onto my Acer Aspire ES1-512. The OS installed is Windows 8.1 (holy as;djha;s I hate it). I have formatted my USB using Rufus. The partition scheme used was the first option (MBR partition scheme for BIOS or UEFI-CSM). I used a verified ISO of Kali Linux.

My "Insyde H20 Setup Utility" menu reads as follows;
Main
Network Boot [Disabled]
F12 Boot Menu [Enabled]
D2D Recovery [Enabled]
Wake on LAN [Enabled]
SATA Mode [AHCI Mode]
Touchpad [Advanced]
xHCI Support [Enabled]

Security
Superviser Password is: Set
User Password is: Clear
HDD password is: Frozen

Password on boot [Disabled]

Secure Boot Mode: Standard
Erase all Secure Boot setting [ENTER]
Select an UEFI file as trusted for executing [ENTER]*
Restore Secure Boot to Factory Default [ENTER]

Boot
Boot Mode: [UEFI]
Secure Boot: [Enabled]**

1. USB FDD
2. USB HDD
3. USB CDROM
4. Windows Boot Manager
5. Network Boot - IPV6
6. Network Boot - IPV4
7. ATAP1 CDROM...
8. HDD

* - upon entering the submenu titled "Select an UEFI file as trusted for executing" under the Security tab, I am presented with two options. Select a file from my HDD or from my USB as you might imagine to be the case when a USB is hooked up. When I enter into the USB, there is no file to select. So I don't know if that's a problem. I'm thinking it could be, but again, not sure. If it is a problem, is it because I did something incorrectly mounting the Kali ISO to the USB using Rufus or what? Idk.
** - I have attempted to boot from USB with it enabled and disabled with no success.

One other thing that is bothering me is that when I go to the Boot Option Menu, I am only presented with one option and that is:

1. Windows Boot Manager (blah blah blah)

What gives? No matter what, when I try to boot from my USB device, I continue to get the notification,
"System doesn't have any USB boot option. Please select other boot option in Boot Manager menu."
But of course, this is impossible since I only have one option.

What am I doing wrong?
Thank you for all your help.
