Hello,
I have an old LCD screen that only has DVI and D-Sub connectors. I want to use that screen as a secondary one and because the DVI connector on the graphics card is already being used by my primary screen, I'm trying to use an adapter but sadly none of these are working. The first one I tried is an ordinary HDMI cable with a HDMI>DVI adapter attached to it. Since it didn't work, I found and ordered a cable which ends with a HDMI on one side and DVI Single Link on another. Sadly, results are the same - screen is not being detected by my PC, and the screen itself says "Check video cable" the exact same way it would say when no cable is connected.
I tried reinstalling my drivers, restarting the computer and detecting screen in the AMD CCC and Windows's screen properties. What else can I try? The card is Radeon R9 280X (HIS).

Just to clarify, the HDMI port you're trying to utilize is on the dedicated GPU? And not the motherboard? You cannot utilize both of these at one time.

Otherwise my best guess is the monitor will just have difficulty communicating video signal through an hdmi adapter. That'd be my GUESS though. I can't say verbatim
