1) Open the web browser that you use: Firefox,Google Chrome,IE,or Opera and type in the IP address for your router,and press the Enter key.

2) A window will open and then type in your routers default username and password,and press the Enter key again

3) Navigate to the Wireless Security\Network Security Settings Tab and open it to locate or change your WEP or WPA Security Passphrase. Use WPA because it provides better security.
4) Write this Security Passphrase down and put it in a safe place to access when needed.
First of all you need to be connected to the router, preferably via Ethernet for your first configuration.
Once connected open a command prompt and type "ipconfig" and hit enter.
Under the gateway address that is your router IP address.
Then you can type that IP into the browser.
ALSO: if your router is a netgear router, some of them want you to use a special URL instead of the IP.
192.168.1.1 is the IP add. of my router. When I put the address in the browser it displays "page not found". How can I go in my router to do the settings.
