I bought a notebook from a local computer shop back in 2014, and recently upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 with a full format. Once W10 was installed, I downloaded drivers for the Nvidia 780m GPU, Realtek audio, and network adapater/wifi card. Everything is running as it did before except that I have extremely low FPS when gaming. I also have horrible tearing in games, which is something that I never once experienced before upgrading to W10. I have to turn on Vsync now, but my FPS is still abysmal - we're talking like 10-20fps, where I used to get 40-50fps.
I have ensured that:
According to Windows 10 > System Information:
System Manufacturer: Notebook
System Model: P15SM
BIOS Version/Date: BIOS Version/Date American Megatrends Inc. 4.6.5, 12/26/2013
But I've searched high and low on the internet and can't find anything related. A website called 'Clevo' seems to be the closest thing, but I still can't find my exact model number, nor can I really even tell which drivers would be for my motherboard.
Is something like DriverEasy useful for this type of situation? What are my other options for pinpointing and fix this problem? Thank you!
I have ensured that:
- the GeForce drivers are up to date and that the GPU is actually being used in games (i.e., not the Intel HD4600). I even have a little light on the laptop that lights up when the 780m is in use while gaming, and it is working fine.
- 'Prefer Maximum Performance' is set in the Nvidia Control Panel
- the laptop's power settings are also set to Max Performance
