Unable to format one of my hds

I have built a new computer reusing some of my previous hardware including my hard drive but it is no longer drive c since i installed a new flash hard drive from which I now run windows. I have tried formatting from the disc manager and from the windows 7 ultimate install disc but it doesn't let me. How must I proceed to format it?

Check on disk management to initialize and format the hard drive

I tried booting from the disc in question, but it seems that the information on it was damaged and it will not boot, nor could windows repair it. How else can I proceed to format it?

Hey there, Alexandre!

I'd suggest to plug the drive on another computer and initialize it, then partition and format it there.
Afterwards plug it back in your system and try to install Windows again.
