Unable to get any internet wired or wireless can see router settings but can't get passed the router

Please can anybody assist in helping me get this issue fixed ?
I've a genuine copy of XP
Service Pack 3
Complete fresh install.
Can see 8.8.8.8 in CMD Prompt
Have tried various Reg edits etc. But to no avail.
I can access my router directly with Ethernet cable to see its ip settings but unable to get online.

Yes I can see the MAC ADDRESS on my ROUTER HOME PAGE

A whitelist is a list of systems ALLOWED to do something, like access the internet. A blacklist is a list of systems, NOT ALLOWED to so something.

Do you have any access restrictions set up on your router?

Also, are you using a fixed IP or DHCP?

My router works with every other device in the home Pc, MacBook, satellite receiver, 2 iPhones & Apple TV so I suddenly thought that as I've not used my laptop for a few months then maybe the reason why the internet isn't working on it was due to any possible missing updates.
Having search the web I found a newer LAN driver than was in my laptop, downloaded it onto a stick then onto my laptop.
Perfect
Internet now up and running
Thanks for all your help, bit of lateral thinking and I worked the issue out for myself.
