So here is my setup...
I have a desktop (win7) with a Asus P8 H77-m motherboard(with latest bios) a D-link Dir-850L router, and 2 Western Digital EX2 NAS servers both with 2 x 3TB HDDs in a raid setup. all cables are new and Cat6 and short. The Ethernet has the latest driver, and set to 1.0 Gbps full duplex.
Using software called "LAN speed test" I am getting 11.8910446 Mbps writing and 88,3225555 Mbps Reading.
I have been googeling settings and solutions like a mad man, so far with nothing to show for it....What am I missing???? anyone?????

Hi Alabalcho
I am experiencing very slow speed transferring files to my NAS boxes, its more or less unusable like 70000 hours to transfer 3tb of data, I am no network expert, so I also guess the software are testing the general speed of my network, and it measures in Mbps..I think its Mega Bits as there is another setting for Bytes:) I am guessing I am not getting the Gbps speeds that my hardware should be able to? the LEDs on my motherboards LAN port are only flashing amber, not green as they should

First - make sure all your connections are gigabit (there should be LEDs on the router confirming that). On your computer, you can go to "Network connections", right-click on network adapter, and confirm the speed.

Second - the time taken to copy 100,000 1mb files will be quite different than time taken to copy 100 1gb files. That is not transmission problem but more file system problem.

Third, and not last: If you read the reviews eg. here, you will see that in best case the NAS can take 50MBytes/sec. That makes twenty seconds per gigabyte, three gigabytes per minute, hundred eighty gigabytes per hour. In best case!!

Just an update, thanks for all your inputs, I bought a PCIe gigabit network card, and are now way more happy with performance, my motherboard did have a gigabit LAN connection, but I just could not get it to work, guess it was some kind of driver problem....again, thanks for all your inputs :)
