Unable to hear nearby audio. (Video games)

Not able to hear close up sounds in video games. I can hear every other sound normal but if my character is walking I hear no steps. And if I'm driving a car I hear no engine. It seems it only affects the nearest area to me. Happens across multiple games. If I sound crazy, this is hard to describe.

I have Logitech Z506 Surround speakers and Bose headphones connected to them.

Set to stereo (2.0) not 7.1 and etc. Just to test the theory.
