As the title says I am unable to install the creator update for windows 10. The only information I can collect is the error "We couldn't update the system reserved partition."

Some info that may explain this error:
This windows 10 install is from a windows 7 upgrade.
All of my drives on this system are using a MBR table. Including my OS drive.
I have attempted to make my system reserved partition larger using easeus partition master however during the application process it reports that an error occurred and the changes don't take effect.

So you tried this and got an error? https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki/windows_10-windows_install/error-we-couldnt-update-the-system-reserved/9154c2b1-b807-439d-8873-9699415eb657

One way to fix it is a fresh install of win 10, especially if you haven't since upgrading from 7 as you might find features working you didn't have before - my search functions didn't work until i fresh installed.

how new is PC as downside to fresh installing win 10 on a system made in last 7 years is it might insist on using GPT for boot drive unless you have bios set to legacy boot only (it might be now) before you start, then it will just recreate MBR like you have now.

backup everything you want to save on C onto another hdd.

backup everything you want to save on C onto another hdd.
download the Windows 10 media creation tool and use it to make a win 10 installer on USB
unplug extra hdd or Win 10 may decide to put MBR partition on another drive and if you ever remove that drive, you would have fun booting PC.
change boot order in BIOS so USB is first, hdd second
boot from installer
follow this guide: http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/1950-windows-10-clean-install.html

when you reach the screen asking for licence, click "I don't have a key" and win 10 will continue to install and reactivate once finished

if it mentions GPT anywhere, your bios settings are wrong,
