I built a computer many years back, and am building a new computer (going back to PC after years on Mac.) However, I've been having a real hassle installing an OS on this computer, and I'm beginning to wonder whether it's the motherboard. At first, I tried installing Windows 10 off a USB drive (this build doesn't have an optical drive,) but kept getting a BSOD before I could even get to the first prompt of the installation (it was a different error each attempt.) So then I picked up a spare hard drive I had and an optical drive, and tried doing the USB install to both of the hard drives, then tried doing a DVD install to both drives, still nothing but the BSOD. So then I tried Ubuntu, just to see if it would work, and kernel panics. At this point, I can't even see a boot screen, the monitor simply gets no signal. I've tried reseting the CMOS, and still nothing. Any idea what could be up? All the parts appear to be working. Here is my build:
ASRock FM2A88X-ITX+ FM2+
AMD Athlon X4 860k
Crucial 16GB-1600
Before I RMA anything, I'd like to see if anyone here might have some advice. Thanks
