Hi,
I've been trying to install Windows 10 on a new 250GB Crucial MX500 SSD without success.
The laptop is an Asus X5DIN, and I just tried also to update the BIOS.
I removed the old HDD running windows 7 64bit and replaced with the new ssd.

Those are the steps i did:

SSD (sata operation mode from bios: compatible) => start installation process (with DVD created recently with mediacreationtool), choose no product key, choose windows 10 pro, accept licence, delete all the partition on the SSD and then click next. It started to copy windows files, then at Preparing installation files, around 12%, the laptop automatically reboot and it appeared the message "no system found"

SSD (sata operation mode from bios: enhanced) => same as before but it complete the installation, at the reboot after loading around 5-10min with the black screen and windows logo, it appeared the blue screen and message "driver pnp watchdog"

Then i tried to replace the SSD with an HDD:

HDD (sata operation mode from bios: enhanced) => after the windows logo, blue screen and message "inaccessible boot device"

HDD (sata operation mode from bios: compatible) => windows 10 correctly working

I repeated the operations couple of times with the SSD to be sure, but the result did't change.

Do you have any suggestion to be able to install W10 on the SSD?
Thanks!

You are going to have issues installing win 10 on the laptop since its newest drivers are win 7, I doubt there are any drivers for windows 10. That is probably the reason the install fails.

You would be better off installing win 7 on it.

SSD (sata operation mode from bios: enhanced) => same as before but it complete the installation, at the reboot after loading around 5-10min with the black screen and windows logo, it appeared the blue screen and message "driver pnp watchdog" << one reason for this error is bad sata settings in BIOS

If this is the issue then why I can install Windows 10 on the HDD without any issue (sata operation mode from bios: compatible) ?

I have never had an issue upgrading a Windows 7 computer (even one that started as an XP PC) to Windows 10, primarily using Windows 10 default drivers; the same can be said with upgrading to an ssd.

What did you mean by "I just tried also to update the BIOS" was it successful or did you already have the most up to date BIOS? https://www.asus.com/supportonly/X5DIN/HelpDesk_BIOS/ My first thought is a faulty ssd; you might want to either try the ssd on another PC, or return your current ssd for another.

I tried everything twice, first time with the old BIOS, then one more time with the new BIOS, but the result didn't change.

I tried to install the Crucial SSD on an other laptop (dell) and i succesfully install on the other laptop Windows 10, but then windows become stuck. I didn't troubleshoot much but maybe the SSD could be faulty as you mentioned.

I will try in the next days with a new SSD Samsung 860.
