unable to join homenetwork

im not able to join a home group .. rather than joining it.. it creates a new home group .. with a new password.. both pc are on the same network but the sharing doesn't work .. and both are discover-able .. please be kind to help me

I had a similar problem recently.
The client laptop could not join the AP PC's home group.

How I was able to fix the problem:

Delete all home groups on both units.
Connect the laptop to the PC's network.
Create a home group on the PC while they are connected.
Then, create a home group on the laptop.
You'll be given the opportunity to join the existing home group on the PC.
Use the password generated on the PC to join the PC's network.

That worked for me.
