unable to mod minecraft

I have been attempting to download and install a hacked client for Minecraft but the file that is installed ends up being different from what the installation guide shows. I have tried changing the file type but nothing works. the website also says its an installer that should have downloaded but I just get a file that cannot be run. I know how to mod Minecraft but nothing is working in this instance, please help. I will post screenshots of theirs and mine once I learn how

it calls its self a hacked client but you still need the game to do anything with it and even then its just a mod. it adds a version you can play on so instaid of playing Minecraft 1.12 you can play Minecraft 1.12 with added features and abilities. nothing is pirated with this the only "hacking" is changing what you can do and its mostly stuff to annoy people.
