Unable to partitionate after low-level format

Hey guys,

My system files (mainly registry) got corrupted. Later I tried to install Windows but I wasn't able so with some search with tools and using Hirens Boot CD I discovered my HDD had bad sectors so I tried to fix it with a low-level format. I used Partition Wizard Home Edition and tried all types, fast, slow and very slow, it changed health in HD Sentinel from 52% to 70% but now I ain't able to partitionate the disk. When I try to install Windows it simply blocks before going to the installing screen ( getting files ready for installation, installing updates, etc) and I get an error in DOS softwares when trying to partitionate. I could partitionate and format normally before the low-level format, I don't know what can I do now, I already searched a lil but haven't found anything relevant about this topic.

I'd like some help from you guys ._. Thanks.

Buy a new hard drive. With that many bad sectors, well, kinda useless to try and repair it.

Well.. I gave up. I had a WD Scorpio Blue 160GB here, will use it till I can get a new HDD (it doesn't cost much but...).

No. Was basing that on the reported HDD health.

Anyway, I gave up of this. I have a WD Scorpio Blue 160GB here so I'll use it till I can buy a new HDD (it doesn't cost too much but.. you know, I live in Portugal..).

Just sounds like a failing HDD to me. If its not a laptop might try chaning the SATA cables out.

You should not use a low-level format to your HDD. Comparing with the full format and quick format, the low level format is really harmful to your physical drive. So, you should learn a lesson not to do it again.

That pretty much sums it up right there. Many years ago it was safe and in some cases needed to low level format a HDD. There was even an option in the bios to perform it. But not any more and in most cases will render the drive completely useless as you have found out. A real low level format is something that is done by the manufacture and should never be needed again.
