Unable to RDP from Win 8 to Win 8

Afternoon,

Im trying to RDP from my windows 8 machine to another Windows 8 (rtm) machine on the same network.

When I attempt to connect using MSTSC (rdp) I get the prompt for credentials but then mstsc just crashes.

I tried un-checking printers (although i have no printers and the spooler service has been disabled) Also disabled audio to no avail.

Both machines have up-to-date updates.

Also tried from my Widnows 8 machine to Windows 8.1 and same issue so finally tried it from another laptop to the new install of Windows 8 and 8.1 i get the exact same error.

Any ideas or suggestions??

what versions of Windows8? Regular or Pro

Is remote access enabled and which option?

Hi,

8 Pro, and yes its enabled as the ipad can RDP to the machine.

I also booted up a Windows 7 VM and can connect fine, the issue seems to be with mstsc.

Tried another RDP application and can connect just fine so it turns out mstsc is what causing the issue. Possible something to do with NLA.

I think ill try and downgrade it to the version used in Windows 7.
