i have a problem where by i cant access my router remotely while i have open vpn connected.

RouterA - Connected to ISP, with port forwarding rules which forwards external requests from port 3434 to RouterB port 80. Wifi off.

RouterB - Running Tomato, Wifi on, wired to RouterA with default gateway set to RouterAs' internal IP address. Has Web Admin enabled for internal and external, on port 80. Also has OpenVPN client set up.

I am able to successfully connect to the Web Admin locally by going directly to RouterBs' address, and remotely by going to the external IP of RouterA on port 3434.

My issue starts when I enable and connect the OpenVPN client. I am able to connect locally as usual, but the same external request as above will time out.

Any advise appreciated

so you are outside the network, you establish the VPN connection. in a web browser you open the public IP:3434 and the request times out?
sounds like your VPN is configured to use gateway on the remote network so you are doing whats called U-turn or hairpin turn. this is not an issue its a feature. kind of like going to public IP:3434 from inside the network.
you should be able to go directly to RouterBs' internal IP after you establish the VPN connection.
