can someone explain to me what i must do in order to run 144hz on my new monitor. nvidia control panel only shows 60hz as an option. i am currently using a display port. (dvi cable did not come with the monitor which i find very strange)

is there a way to use the display port and still get 144hz or do i have to buy a dvi cable?

Solution
You should be able to run the full refresh rate over dual link DVI or DP. HDMI wouldn't, however. As I'm at work and this machine doesn't have Nvidia for graphics, I can't access the control panel to show or explain what you should do to fix it. However, this same issue has come up recently in another thread. Once I get home, I'll post a link to what you need to look at in order to make it work unless someone else beats me to it.

Edit:

You can also try this:
