[SOLVED] unable to set up dual monitors

I normally have one monitor set up with a hdmi and recently I have decided to get another monitor. However, when I connect the second monitor using a DVI to DVI cable it causes the HDMI monitor to display a black screen and there is also no display from the DVI monitor.

Any help would be appreciated.

Nothing happens when I click win + P.

specs:

OS: windows 10 home
mb: GA-78LMT-USB3
gpu: zotac gtx 1050ti 8gb oc - has 1x HDMI, 1x DVI and 1x DP slots.

also, when I insert the DVI cable the hdmi display goes black even if the DVI cable is not connected to another monitor.

yes one in HDMI and one in the DVI, once the DVI cable is connected is disables the display from the HDMI even if the DVI cable is not connected to a monitor.

Ok. Shut down your system and disconnect the HDMI cable from the graphics card, so you only have the DVI monitor connectec.
Restart your system.
Do you get an image on the DVI Connected display?
