In my company we create a folder labeled Scanner. Then we share to everyone with read/write permissions. And the advance sharing is on. Password protection is off. Then they go to the scanner and scan to there computer. The user started to get scanning errors. I look and the folder is no long shared. At the bottom of the screen it says it shared. But when i go to share the folder on the c: drive i get an error code "Your folder can't be shared". I did a Google search and I all the forums that i found didn't help me. And i don't want to format the computer if something simple that I'm not thinking of.

Windows 7 Professional 64 bit
Intel i7

Solution
Try, right-click on Folder > Properties > Sharing tab > Advanced Sharing > check box "Share this folder" > Enter Share name "any" > click on Permission > Add whoever/department you want to share with, and check the permissions (Everyone should be listed as default with Read) > Ok, Apply. Then you can see the Network PAth is \\ComputerName\Folder
Go to another computer and click Start > Run (or in the Search box) type \\ComputerName\Folder and Enter. It should pop up an Security windows asking for username/password. You MUST have password on the User that created the shared.

I did check there to. Every place I check says it's shared. But in reality it's not shared. When you right click and go to properties and click on sharing. Then where it would give you the network path. It doesn't give you the network path. Then when you go to share it. It gives me the "Your folder can't be shared". But when click on the folder or modify the permissions it shows that it is shared, when it is not. It doesn't make any seance to me. It blows my mind and it's killing me. I even tried creating a new folder and tried sharing it. And it still gives me the same error.

Are Printer people were just here a week ago. And we asked him about it. The idea that he had was adding the IP of the computer to the printer as the host instead of the computer name. And it solved the issue. She was able to scan. Then I started having issues This pass Monday 7/7/14. And nothing changed to my computer. So i changed my host name in the printer to my computer IP. And it solved the issue. It's starting to sound like to me its the in nice terms the dumb printers.
