Unable to uninstall XBox 360 controller drivers.

I have recently bought a wired Xbox 360 controller and it doesn't work when plugged into the PC, even though it shows up as "Xbox 360 Controller for Windows" at the Devices and Printers screen.

The device status under Properties says
"The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

There is not enough space on the disk."

I have tried to update the drivers through the Properties screen and got the error message

"Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it. There is not enough space on the disk."
I have over 50GB in all the partitions of my HDD.

I have tried to download the drivers directly from Microsoft's site, the .exe gives this error message when clicked.

"This software version is already installed on this system, To re-install this software, you must remove it first, and then run Steup again from the installation media."

I have tried to uninstall the driver named "Microsoft Xbox 360 Accessories 1.2" in the Programs and Features screen. But I was given this error message

"An error occurred while writing installation information to disk. Check to make sure enough disk space is available."

To put it simply, my controller isn't working, I can't update, remove or reinstall the drivers and the error messages indicated that I didn't have enough disk space even though I have over 50GB free in every partition of my HDD.

Anyone have any ideas?

1| Mind sharing your full system's specs and your OS? Assuming that Windwos 7 was a typo.
2| Have you made sure your motherboard BIOS is up to date?
3| Have you tried to install the drivers before you connected the controller to your system for the first time?
4| Have you also tried connecting the controller to an available USB2.0 port(and not an USB3.0 port)?
5| When installing drivers, you may also want to try and install using elevated command, i.e
Right click installer>Run as Administrator.

it means your system running out of disk space. Try this:
1. Folder option > select show hidden folders, files > c:\Users > your profile > AppData > Local > Temp (delete everything in that folder.
2. c:\windows > temp > delete everything in that folder.
3. Delete files in Download folder that you no longer need.
4. Empty trash bin
5. reinstall XBox360 controller driver.

I've done all of those and I still can't uninstall the driver. I can't use the installation .exe from Microsoft's site either.
Prior to this I still have at least 50GB of space in all the partition of my hard disk.

2. Yes.
3. Yes, I have installed them prior to buying my controller so that I could emulate Xbox controllers using a PS3 controller.
4. Yes.
5. Done that, still gives me the "This software version is already installed on this system, To re-install this software, you must remove it first, and then run Setup again from the installation media." error message.
